well im here.
have been for a few days and its pretty awesome so far. the hostel was AWESOME. great people and great times
it seems like its been weeks. its exhausting and exciting and yeah...yay!
got here safe obviously. had an awesome time in the hostel teh first night. super fun kids and just great times. the night ended in a piazza with just us 15 from the hostel singing random songs to this argentinian kid playing his guitar. so much fun.
got our apartment. it rocks. its just me and jaya so thats super awesome. its studio style so not much privacy at all. but its in a great area in the trastevere, near the river and good stuffs. and only about a 20 minute walk from campo di fiori. soooooo yes. this is all good.
last night we went with the girls who live next door to a cafe called "good" where they have the best hot chocolate EVER. and wireless! so this i think will be our haunt.
thats right folks. no internet in the house. its kind of tragic and were nto quite sure what to do wtih ourselves.
as of right now...
we're done with duties for the day.
might go find school supplies...we have books. need pens and paper and those useful things. like staplers
and we have noooo idea where to get them
possibly exploring/sightseeing/shopping.
theres huge sales going on everywhere right now. i loves it. shoes and jackets and jeans, oh my!
there are a few day trips though the school we are thinking about taking. theres one to capri, another to tuscany..you know....options to see pretty places. that definitely does not suck
its been frustrating not knowing the language and having to rely on jaya for a lot of things as far as that goes. but is reassuring to know that i am picking it up slowly but surely and that i can read italian pretty well (yay for latin!)...well enough to get around
i have a phone now and thats cool. havent really been using it much, but thats all good. probably better that way.
finalized the class schedule. im taking:
AS 299 photography: rome portfolio
RL 399 zen buddhism
CL 399A ethnicity and identity in the ancient mediterranean world
AH 201 Rome, Ostia and Pompeii: Cities, towns and villas
soo the last one should be pretty close to what i took at tulane..but theres a mandatory weekend trip to Oplontis, Pompeii and Herculaneum.
totally doesnt suck
so im a happy camper.
living with jaya is definitely awesome. and its really nice that the only two apartments are ours and the other girls next door. we tend to leave our front doors open so its more like a suite, since we all get along so well. its been fun
i swear it feels like ive been here for weeks already, and classes have not even started yet!
crazy.
definitely looking forward to what is to come. we are going to do shopping and sightseeing tomorrow and this weekend for sure so im a happy panda.
ciao
